Is dpp.gs compliant with EU regulations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. dpp.gs implements open identifier standards (GS1 Digital Link, plus MA-DPP, EPC, UUID, DID), the ESPR 2024/1781 Annex III requirements and the EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542. Every DPP we issue meets current EU technical specifications.

When does the EU Digital Product Passport become mandatory?

EV and industrial batteries ≥2 kWh: 18 February 2027. Textiles and apparel: mid-2027. Electronics and ICT: 2028. Furniture and construction products: 2029. Most other physical goods sold in the EU follow by 2030 under the ESPR phased rollout.

Am I responsible as an EU importer even if my supplier is outside the EU?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Under ESPR the EU importer becomes the responsible economic operator and must ensure a valid Digital Product Passport exists before placing a product on the EU market. Failure can result in customs blocks, marketplace removal, and fines up to 4% of EU turnover.

Which product identifiers does dpp.gs support?

Accepted Answer

dpp.gs is identifier-agnostic. GS1 Digital Link is the recommended default, but you can also use MA-DPP, EPC, UUID and DID — and for intermediate or B2B products, non-GTIN identifiers such as heat or cast numbers. The same passport resolves regardless of the identifier scheme.

Where is my data stored? Is it GDPR compliant?

Accepted Answer

All product and tenant data is stored in Germany — EU jurisdiction, GDPR compliant. Product data never leaves the EU. Consumer ownership claim photos are auto-deleted 30 days after the claim closes.

Can I integrate dpp.gs with my ERP or label-printing system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every account gets an API key. POST /api/v1/products creates a passport; GET /qr/{GTIN} returns PNG or SVG — perfect for label printer templates. OpenAPI 3.1 spec at github.com/dpp-admin/openapi (MIT) lets you generate clients in any language.

Can I create a DPP for intermediate or B2B products?

Accepted Answer

Yes. dpp.gs supports intermediate products with sector-specific data — EN 10204 mill certificates, HS codes for CBAM — and non-GTIN identifiers, so upstream suppliers can issue passports that downstream manufacturers reference.

Does dpp.gs use blockchain?

Accepted Answer

No. dpp.gs uses GS1 Digital Link URLs + open JSON Schemas (MIT-licensed). No wallet, no seed phrase, no gas fees for consumers. The platform is auditable via standard HTTP + RFC 9264 linkset, not opaque on-chain transactions.

How does dpp.gs help with PPWR packaging compliance?

Accepted Answer

Every packaging layer is declared separately (PPWR Reg. 2025/40, Art. 12) — materials, recyclability, recycled content and EPR — and you can generate and archive the EU Declaration of Conformity with the required retention period.

Accepted Answer

Yes. dpp.gs generates the EU Declaration of Conformity (Annex VIII model) from your product data in multiple EU languages, as PDF or editable Word, and archives it against the product or the specific packaging layer.
