Selling into US retail in 2027? GS1 US Sunrise mandates 2D barcodes on retail items by Aug 1, 2027 — Walmart, Target, Kroger and most majors won't accept 1D-only after that. The same GS1 Digital Link QR you put on a product for EU DPP works at the US point-of-sale.

The EU Digital Product Passport Registry (ESPR Art. 12–13) becomes mandatory on 19 July 2026. dpp.gs already captures the required registry identifiers for every product — the day the Commission's registry opens, registration is a switch, not a migration.
Your passports stand on the first European DPP standards (CEN/CENELEC JTC 24, published 27 May 2026), not a proprietary format: identifiers across multiple standards (GS1 Digital Link, MA-DPP, EPC, UUID, DID), QR + GS1 DataMatrix carriers, JSON-LD data and a versioned API. Our schemas and OpenAPI spec are public and MIT-licensed.
Every passport can be issued as a cryptographically signed W3C Verifiable Credential (Ed25519, prEN 18246). Anyone can verify authenticity and integrity offline against our public key — closing fake DPP QR codes, without a blockchain wallet or token.
